Your fur babies are, well, your babies! You love your fluffy children so much that of course you want to include them when it is time to document your lives. Because whether it is for your engagement session or updating your family photos, they are a part of the family! But photographing these four legged guys definitely goes a lot smoother when we are all prepared and prepped. So this week I’m going to share my tips and tricks to get the most out of a session with your favorite doggo(s).

-Get em all spruced up! Who doesn’t feel spiffy right after a trip to the salon?! Having your sweet dog freshly brushed and clean will make sure they look their best before the shutter clicks! Side note: If right out of the gate, your freshly cleaned canine decides that they really need to roll in the dirt, no worries! My furless babies do the same, and it was the thought that counts. 😉

-Bring toys! When it comes time for them to look at the camera, having their favorite squeaky, ball, or rope will really help out and make them very attentive. Unless… Squirrel!!!

-Treats on treats on treats! There is nothing better than getting rewarded for good behavior. So make sure you pack a BUNCH! Because your dogs will love you for it!

-Don’t forget the leash! Even if your pup is extremely well behaved, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Chances are we wont use it, but just incase, if in all of the excitement things start to get a little crazy, it is good to have one on hand.

Now that you have these tips and tricks in your arsenal I will leave you with one final note. Above all else, if you only take one thing from this blog post, just know that 99.999999999% of the time, photo sessions do not going according to plan. So do NOT stress! My main priority will be capturing the joy you have with the ones you love, in all of the messy chaotic goodness that is real life! So relax, and prep those fur babies!!!!
