In some ways, our trip to Thermopolis felt like redemption. Weird right? Well ever since we we had our youngest and became a family of six, adventures with every single member present have gotten fewer and farther between. We still get to enjoy group activities with family movie nights, walks to the park, board games. But last year our 6 person travel adventure list shrunk down to one camping trip. Don’t get me wrong, it was by far my favorite memory of 2018. But to only have one travel adventure with every member of our family, felt like we were defeated by the shear numbers of our own tribe. And to be honest, I was definitely getting stir crazy with the cold winter still looming over us.
So on a whim (Okay, a week in advance, thats about as spontaneous we get LOL) we booked a hotel pack all six bags, crossed our fingers and peeled out of the driveway! Only to turn around 45 seconds later because Dad forgot his swim trunks xD. We were absolutly off to an amazing start! Back on the road we stopped for fuel, Starbucks (yup that one is my fault) water, red bull, crackers and were officially on the road a whooping hour later!
The car ride was surprisingly uneventful. Everyone utilized rest stops when they were supposed to, no car fights, no huge spills. Which made us all feel like “Hey! We can totally do this!”. We swam in the hot springs, walked around even more hot springs in the state park, viewed bison from a very far/safe distance, slept in a hotel (a few of the kid’s favorite part LOL) and of course had to go to the Wyoming Dinosaur Center (Hands down the best thing Greyson had ever seen in his life). I truly hope this trip will be the begining of a new season of “Yes we have a million kids, but we can STILL get our buns out there and have fun outside of our town!” because this is an adventure I would do again in a heart beat, and I can’t wait for the next!!!
It’s getting harder and harder to get a good picture of all four XD
